Webflow SEO titles and descriptions on every publish
Headlark connects to Webflow through its API. On every publish it reads your published pages and writes each one's SEO title, meta description, Open Graph title and Open Graph description into the page settings. No code, no script on your pages.
1. Create a site token
In Webflow: Site settings → Apps & integrations → API access → generate a site token with Pages: read and write.
2. Connect the site
In the Headlark dashboard, open your site → Webflow, and paste the token and your Webflow site id. The token is stored encrypted and never shown again.
3. Add the publish webhook
In Webflow: Site settings → Apps & integrations → Webhooks → add a Site publish webhook with your site's hook URL from the dashboard.
What happens on publish
- Headlark lists your site's pages through the API, skips drafts, archived pages, CMS template pages (their SEO is bound to Collection fields) and Webflow's 404 and password pages, and reads the rest from your live site.
- New or changed pages are written within minutes. Pages whose content didn't change come from cache.
- A page whose SEO fields already match isn't written again.
- Webflow serves the new fields from your next publish. Headlark never publishes for you, because that would also ship your drafts.
The Webflow docs have the reference. To see which of your published pages share a title or have no description today, run the free site checker on your site.
What isn't covered through the API
| Item | Through Webflow's API | With the snippet added |
|---|---|---|
| SEO title, meta description | Yes | Yes |
| Open Graph title and description | Yes | Yes |
| JSON-LD structured data | No | Yes, seen by Google only |
| Image alt text | No | Yes, seen by Google only |
| CMS Collection items, one by one | Not yet | Not yet |
To add the snippet, paste it in Site settings → Custom code → Head code. See the script tag guide for how it works and why only Google sees what it adds.
