Snippet
For sites where you can paste code but can't change the build. Add this to the <head> of every page (your site id is in the dashboard):
<script src="https://headlark.com/v1/s.js" data-site="<site id>" async></script>
Then connect a deploy hook (or Webflow) so each page's SEO is written when you publish.
How it works
- The snippet only downloads a small, cached file with the page's SEO and applies it. It never asks Headlark to write anything, so a page view costs nothing and can't change what other visitors get.
- No SEO written yet for a page? The snippet does nothing.
- It never adds a canonical when your page already has one.
- A default share image is added like the other tags, so only Google sees it. For link previews, use the build step.
Limits
Google renders JavaScript and sees the tags. Bing and the link previewers of Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and X read the raw HTML, so they don't. Pages that render only in the browser look empty to Headlark when it fetches them; prerender them and use the build step.
